Staffs Moorlands AC is a community based, friendly running club based in Leek. Runners of all ages and all abilities are welcome.

We hold regular track sessions at Birchall playing fields as well as organising a number of weekly training runs of varying distances.

The club year runs from the 1st April each year to the end of March the next, but new members may join at any time. Our AGM is usually held in February.

Current Membership Fees

Please go to to find our current fee structure.

Affiliation fees should be paid for each family member wishing to affiliate to England Athletics on top of the club membership fee.

*Juniors who are new members of the club do not need to pay a club membership fee until the following membership year. This means that they can get between 1 and 364 free days of membership. It does not entitle them to a free year from the date that they join. EA affiliation fees still apply.

Juniors are those people whose age on 1st April is not yet 18. All others are deemed to be seniors.

For all junior under 13, we also require a parent or guardian to register, either as a member in their own right or as an Associate Member.

Family membership is charged at the standard rate for each adult (minimum of one) + 1 x the current Junior rate for an unlimited number of Juniors in the same family/household. Each individual member of the family requiring EA affiliation must pay the EA affiliation fee (currently £15 per athlete) on top of the club Family Membership fee.

Older members who are 60 years of age or over on 1st April are entitled to a reduced membership payment equivalent to the Junior membership fee currently in force.

Students We do not offer a reduced membership fee to individual members who are students.

Associate Members pay no fees, but may not enter any races as a club member.

Affiliation to England Athletics

The club membership fee does not include the affiliation for EA. It is a personal decision whether you wish to affiliate, but you may find that you are unable to be entered in some races as a consequence. The club handles the affiliation on your behalf (unless you are transferring an affiliation in from another club- see below).

If you wish to be affiliated to EA you must pay the full affiliation fee in the applicable year (1st April - 30th March) whether you join at the beginning of the year or in the last month unless you are already affiliated and transferring from another club (in which case you should not need to pay again).

Members who do not affiliate to England Athletics are not permitted to run as affiliated athletes in races run under EA/UKA rules (and not at all in some races e.g. North Staffs league, county championships) but may run as unaffiliated in some EA/UKA road races. All paid-up members, whether or not affiliated, may take part in club activities at club rates (e.g. Summer Series, Christmas Cracker).

If you are currently affiliated and wish to continue your affiliation uninterrupted, then you need to pay your subs promptly on receipt of the renewal notice and in any event by 1st April. Affiliation renewal fees are due to England Athletics by 1st April and the club has reluctantly decided it can no longer take the risk of assuming a member's wish to remain affiliated and pay the fees in anticipation of receipt of the subs.

If you are transferring to SMAC from another club and are already affiliated through your former club, please remember to notify England Athletics as we are unable to transfer your affiliation on your behalf.
